  • The Callisto model is all about “buying well” – locating a suitable target, assessing the relevant risks through due diligence and negotiating a purchase price within agreed parameters.

Unlike Private Equity Funds, we do not pay purchase prices on inflated earnings multiples, nor do we need to make substantial changes to operations to obtain acceptable investment returns. We ensure our funding costs are covered by buying well. Whatever growth we get in the business is a bonus – it is not required to fund the acquisitions.

  • We buy where we are comfortable. There is a level of separate, experienced and capable management. Callisto has a hands-on approach, providing valuable specialist experience in areas such as strategy, performance management, finance and risk.

Many of our targets have been neglected in terms of investment in marketing, systems and strategy. Most respond very well to a re-engaged ownership team.

  • Although our target acquisitions already provide a stable level of earnings, we prefer to buy where we can see clear and significant ways to expand, make a business more efficient or where we see significant synergy savings.

The Callisto Board then manage towards achieving these growth targets.

  • Our proven performance management systems involve continual monitoring on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

This ensures timely management of problems as they arise.

  • Unlike Private Equity Funds, we do not expect to sell the business and exit in the short to medium term. Our approach involves holding these income generating assets over an extended period.

A sale would only be anticipated if an opportunistic transaction was identified which would generate a superior level of returns compared to our normal longer-term hold strategy. Importantly a sale is not required to either retire debt or equity as our buy price ensures an orderly unwinding of both our debt and equity positions within the agreed timeframes.
